White Ibis Control (Threskiornis molucca)

The Australian White Ibis (Threskiornis molucca) is a wading bird of the ibis family Threskiornithidae. They are widespread in eastern and south western Australia.
The ibis is increasingly becoming a permanent resident in many towns and cities across Australia. Many take up residence at rubbish tips or the local outdoor cafes and restaurants, becoming totally unafraid of people and making real pests of themselves.
However, of real concern is the growing risk of aircraft striking ibis during take off and landing. Airport surrounds, with their closely mown grass provides ideal feeding grounds for the ibis, which search out grubs, worms, crickets and small lizards, amphibians, etc.
Bird Gard Laser has been trialled and found to be extremely effective in putting Ibis to flight and forcing them out of the area. Like any other light, the laser’s limitation is that it can only operate in low light conditions (i.e. late afternoon to early morning). One of the great capabilities of the laser is its ability to relocate entire roosting colonies of ibis (and cormorants, seagulls, egrets etc) to a different locality, without harming a single bird. Moving the colony to a new roosting site can often mean their finding new breeding areas as well.

Hi I am in Perth. Having problems with Ibis on my newly painted tiled roof. I hose and frighten but they return. Thought of stainless steel spikes but how do I attach to roof.

      Hi Lynne

We havent used bird spikes against Ibis before, so dont know how well that would work. But I suspect you would need a lot of bird spikes to discourage them.

We use the Eagle Kite to repel Ibis around the home, but it is best we have chat before any purchase so feel free to give me a call

See the Eagle Kite here https://www.birdgard.com.au/pest-control/eagle-kite-bird-scarer/

Are you lasers legal in Australia, it says you have to have a permit to use them. We have 5-10 ibis on our roof and in our garden every day. I want to stop them coming without hurting them. I emailed you yesterday, please can you respond.

      Hi Gwen

I sent the below email to you on monday, did you get it ?

      Hi Gwen
The hand held laser works well against Ibis. The cheapest laser retails at $1,590.00 incl. However most states require you to have a permit to legally possess this product. Given your domestic situation your not likely to get a permit.

The Eagle Kite also works well against Ibis and it is generally used around the home

The Eagle Kite retails at $468.00 incl GST and freight, see it here

Always best to give us a call before purchase https://www.birdgard.com.au/pest-control/eagle-kite-bird-scarer/
